The Lanark Village Boat Club Incorporated (Boat Club) was formed in 1961 as a non-profit social club and continues to be an important part of the Lanark Village community. In addition to operating the boat launching facilities, the Boat Club coordinates numerous events annually for members and the general public:
New Year’s Day Memorial Day Spring and Fall Bazaar Mother’s and Father’s Day
4th of July Labor Day Monthly Pancake Breakfast Resident Member Christmas Party
Christmas Day Dinner
Without the Board oversight and members assistance, these events would not be offered. The officers of the Board of Directors (Board) are volunteers and serve for a one-year period – January 1 through December 31. Therefore, being December, it is time to elect officers for 2019.
At the upcoming Board/Members meeting scheduled for Thursday, December 20, 2018 at 6:30 pm, the officers for 2019 will be nominated and voted in by LVBC resident members in attendance. This meeting will be held at Chillas Hall located on Heffernan Street in Lanark Village. Here is a list of the Board positions:
Commodore 1st Vice Commodore 2nd Vice Commodore Secretary Treasurer Membership
House and Grounds Ways and Means Dock Master 1st Director At Large 2nd Director At Large
Several current Board members have been serving for quite some time and are ready to step down. In fact, all positions are considered as vacant for 2019. Therefore, this is a great opportunity for you to get more involved with the Boat Club and help chart its future course. New energy is always refreshing, and we welcome you to get on board (pardon the pun).
The nomination process is simple. Either:
Contact one of the following Nominations Committee members to express your interest in a position:
>Pat Funderburk at 404-314-9885 or by email [email protected]
>Barry Greer at 727-510-8027 or by email [email protected]
>Gail Relyea at 478-747-5643
Or attend the meeting and be nominated from the floor by another member.
Whether you have been a long-time resident; are totally new to the Lanark Village area; or currently are a weekender, consider this opportunity. Being on the Board is not a full-time job. Being a part of the Board is a very rewarding experience and a good way to give back to the community.
If you have any questions or would like an overview of the duties and responsibilities of any Board position, you can contact a Nomination Committee member or a current Board Member. See the link below to the Board position descriptions.
